One out of a full deck of alphabet cards, this features the letter “T” in honor of the Japanese-American graphic designer, Ikko Tanaka. The use of an umbrella to form the “T” shape that continues from the front to the back of the card is reminiscent of how Tanaka was well known for fusing modernism with traditional subject matter in his works. The bold blocks of color on the front of the card further reference the bold color pallet he used in some of his works like his 1981 Nihon Buyo theater poster. The choice to position the letters of his name vertically makes reference to the origination of Japanese writing.
